Windows is the operating system
developed by Microsoft’s Bill Gates. By default, Windows comes with preloaded
command keys that are better known as short-cut keys. These short-cut keys,
help users give commands to their computers more speedily.
The A-Z windows key commands is
all about combining the windows key with the alphabet keys A-Z in order to
execute simple tasks in the shortest time possible. You should also know that
these windows short-cut keys work not only on windows computers but also on
windows mobile phones.
The A-Z Windows key commands is
the outcome of an intensive analysis of the Windows Operating System source
files from the old windows NT up to the
most recent Windows 8. The command keys shown here will work mainly on Windows
mobiles and wi-fi enabled Windows laptop computers whereas a few of them will
work on desktop computer systems and Windows based computers generally.
Note: Pressing solely the Windows
key prompts the Start menu to display programs and applications on your P.C. Pressing
the alphabetic key combinations of A-Z with the Windows key gives your computer
commands to run tasks very quickly. In order words, you do not need to always
head to your control panel. These
combinations and their functios are explained below.
Win key + A
This command tells window to
highlight the first icon, document, or file starting with the letter ‘A’ on
your Desktop, for instance, when I key this combination on my laptop, my avast
icon gets highlited. And from here I can
scroll to any other icon or document on my desktop using my arrow keys (LEFT,
RIGHT, UP, DOWN).
Win key + B
This shows or hides the active
application icons on the right end of your taskbar. Note that you can edit the
icons you want to be displayed by going to your taskbar settings. This
short-cut works mostly on Windows mobile phones.
Win key + C
This has no fuction for now but
may probably have soon.
Win key + D
This minimizes any open window on
your desktop to your taskbar and repeating the command restores your window
unto your desktop.
Win key + E
This opens the Windows explorer,
along with its sidebar. Here you can see the drives that are connected to your
computer along with your desktiop and document folders on the sidebar.
Win key + F
This starts the Windows Search
Companion. Here you can search for specific files from any folder on your
drive.
Win key + G
This will assist you to choose
your computer sidebar gadgets. On older
versions of Windows, this command may highlight your desktop icons, documents
or folders that start with the letter ‘G’.
Win key+ H, I, J
These keys do not perform any
functions.
Win + K
This command highlights or
selects any desktop icon or document that starts with the letter ‘K’.
Win key + L
This command will lock your P.C.
To re-enter, simply type in your password if you configured your computer with
one, and if you don’t have a password enable, simply hit the enter key and you
are back in!
Win key + M, N, O
They have no function presently.
Win key + P
This command will help to change
your screen mode.
Win key + Q
This has no function.
Win key + R
This command pops up the run dialogue
box. With this command you can start or run any program on your computer.
Win key + S
This short-cut key selects the
first desktop icon or document starting with the letter ‘S’.
Win key + T
This will highlight the tab that
you opened earlier along with the tab you are currently on. In ealier versions
of Windows, it is also known to highlight desktop icons that are starting with
the letter ‘T’.
Win key + U
This command prompts windows to
run the utility manager or ease of access center.
Win key + V
This has no function presently.
Win key + W
What this short-cut key does is
to highlight the first icon or document on your desktop that starts with the
letter ‘S’.
Win key + X
This pops up the Windows Mobility
Centre dialogue. From here you can change the brightness, battery settings,
wifi settings, screen mode, and sync settings of your computer.This command
also works on windows mobile phones.
Win key + Y and Z
Pressing any of this key
combination does nada.
